Your own site is like your own home, only it is online. If you’re looking forward to build your own site, such as yourname.com, here’s a training program I’m offering to help you with just that. You get free assistance in setting up your custom email IDs, such as you@yourname.com. Over the coming weeks and months, my goal is to help build as many online homes as possible!

Note: If you own a business, you can consider hiring me for your web design and branding requirements.

Why do you need your own site?

Radio was a luxury before TV was invented. TV was a luxury before computers came about. A PC was a luxury before Internet and emails happened.

Today, we have Internet and emails at the center of our lives at work and home. Your own site may seem like a luxury, but very soon, it’ll be an essential part of your identity and your brand. You cannot think of being without one or more.

In fact, your site, or rather your online brand, will be the central hub of your life, be it at home or office. You’ll communicate on your blog, share interesting stuff with your family and friends, discuss things that matter with your community and participate in causes you believe in. The biggest benefit will be seen in your career where you’ll have a clear differentiator compared to your peers.

Pick your course

The courses are organized in increasing levels of advanced topics. You’re encouraged to browse through the different courses and pick the ones that you’re interested in. For a customized package of courses, write to me.

Beginner’s Course
For the absolute newbie, I’ll offer end to end help in getting your site online and managing it without any assistance. Contact me for an initial discussion about your requirements, ideas, domain names, registration, setting up the new site, tutorials, duration of the course, and the charges involved.

Intermediate Course
For current bloggers and Internet-savvy individuals, I’ll offer help with migrating your existing sites to your own site and integrating it with your social network profiles. Contact me for an initial discussion about your requirements, ideas, domain names, registration, setting up the new site, tutorials, duration of the course, and the charges involved.

Advanced Course
For freelancers who want to pursue a career in web design and consulting, I’m offering advanced courses over multiple sessions. I’ll help you prepare for reviewing and taking up most types of assignments. Contact me for an initial discussion about the topics to be covered in the course, duration, and the charges involved.

Free with all courses

With all the courses:

I’ll help with the integration of your domain with Google Apps to setup your custom mail ID (you@yourname.com) and mail server (http://mail.yourname.com/), your Google Docs repository (http://docs.yourname.com/) and more.

I’ll offer tips and resources that have helped me gain my knowledge in the last few years.

I’ll be available for any specific queries and issues over emails for the first three months after the course is completed.

For any related queries, feel free to contact me.

Happy online home!

We love good music any time. Like the famous saying in The Alchemist, good music seems to follow us anywhere we go. My brother Raghu was once in the Landmark shop in Bangalore’s Forum mall. There was this music playing, and it didn’t take more than a couple of seconds for him to decide to buy the album. He asked the shopkeepers, and they didn’t know which was the album. Raghu grew desperate, he rushed to the next floor – if the music stopped, he may never know the name of the album.

Fortunately for him and me, someone told him the song belonged to kARNATRiix album. More information and samples of their tracks are available at http://www.myspace.com/karnatriix. Here is an extract:

kARNATRiix is the brainchild of one of India’s most exceptional guitar players, John Anthony. Accompanying him on this magical journey is a brilliant exponent of the Sarangi, Ustad Faiyaz Ahmed Khan.

kARNATRiix is not just another trick out of the sagging bag of what goes for fusion music these days. It is the soul-soothing culmination of a band of musicians’ experiments with different styles and sounds, much like a new color produced by the skillful combination of various hues and shades.

kARNATRiix’s soundscape stretches out far beyond what has been created hitherto. It is contemporary and yet traditional. It is not simple and yet not complicated. It is electronica and also acoustica. You can chill out or just sit in silent contemplation as the music fills up your senses. Misguided and conflicting it might seem, but the music is direct and clear, offering Indian classical creations in a new age package to people all over the world.

All the four tracks are instrumentals with vocals in the background at some instances. Well, my favorite track is, by a huge margin, the second one, “endarO mahAnubhAvuLu (ఎందరో మహానుభావులు)”, a version of one of the five Telugu compositions from Sri Thyagaraja’s Pancharatna Krithis. Though I’m hugely biased towards any variation or rendition of this track, I like Dr.M. Bala Murali Krishna’s vocal-version the best (I remember buying the cassette at Hyderabad’s Birla Mandir, in the summer of 1995, just after my Std. Tenth). There have been many versions of the track, such as Kannukudi Vaidyanathan’s violin instrumental track.

kARNATRiix is a huge treat to your senses. If you’re stressed out, feeling low, facing life’s many twists-and-turns, or just looking for soul-stirring music, play kARNATRiix and sit-back. Enjoy the magical journey, you’ll travel out of the world and come back re-charged!

This is the recent book I read and I’m cursing myself why I didn’t read it 3 years back. It was on my to-do list for that long, when it was published, and somehow I missed it.

Why am I cursing myself? Because it would’ve saved me about 3 years of common, avoidable mistakes at my job and life in general. It’s that simple. That’s why, this is coming with a ‘recommended’ tag.

Jack Welch, GE’s legendary former CEO of about 20 years, first wrote the book ‘Straight from the Guts’. This was about his life, how he started and ended his career at GE. The second one, ‘Winning’ is more universal and influential. I’m not going to say what’s in the book, but I will certainly tell you where it benefits you career-wise – which you may apply in your personal life as well.

You’ll get an idea how to identify and get the job you love, how to get promotions, how to deal with issues at office, work-life balance, how to beat competition – and so on.

Enjoy and Start Winning!
