We all have our superheroes in our lives.
The strong people without whom our lives would fall apart, things wouldn’t get done, the fun wouldn’t exist, and memories wouldn’t be worth remembering.
How do they keep going?
How do they remain strong for us?
How do they look out for us?
Don’t they face problems?
Don’t they have downtimes?
Don’t they face loss, humiliation, stress, anger, sorrow?
They all do, just like the rest of us.
So, the next time you meet them, do them a little favor that doesn’t cost much, but will mean a lot to them, and will keep them going for a few more days.
Just ask: How are you?
Then, really listen.
Don’t bring up your stuff.
Make it just about them and their feelings.
Take a bow, all you Fathers, Mothers, Brothers, Sisters, Husbands, Wives, Friends.
Take a bow, all you Soldiers, Farmers, Cops, Lawyers, Leaders, Managers, Colleagues.
Take a bow, everyone else I can’t possibly list here.
So once again, “How are you?”
